How To Pick A Durable Shutter In Tampa

August 08, 2016

One Sunburst Shutters store in Texas was recently contacted by a previous customer. The customer had their home destroyed by a twister earlier this year, but the house’s Sunburst Polywood® plantation shutters held out.

The client’s house required a complete rebuild due to damage, but there were just a small number of slats broken on a single shutter panel on one edge of their residence. No other shutter was damaged at all! The homeowners are now rebuilding their house, and before long, the Sunburst store in Texas will revisit the home to install the original shutters in their reconstructed home.

Hopefully, your shutters won’t have to withstand a twister. But there are some points to make sure of when selecting shutters in Tampa that are durable and will look beautiful for decades.

*Disclaimer: Sunburst Shutters doesn’t guarantee that their our products will withstand a tornado or other natural disasters, but this is just one example of the durability and longevity of our Polywood shutters. Refer to our lifetime warranty.

Sturdy Material

The first thing to be sure of when choosing a resilient window treatment is exactly what material it’s made from. For wood shutters, look for ones built from wood that is known for being sturdy, straight, and lightweight. Our Ovation® shutters feature furniture grade basswood and teak, which both have these qualities.

For engineered shutters, look for shutters built from a solid polymer like our Polywood® shutters. Polywood shutters are sturdier than composite shutters, whose weaker composition is more susceptible to chips and scratches. Polywood is also resistant to moisture, fire, and termites.

High Quality Construction

How a shutter is constructed has a key role in its sturdiness over time. Polywood shutters use tension control pins that keep the louvers tight. Stainless steel staples coated in epoxy give added protection. Polywood’s core is solid, and its joints are secured and glued for tremendous sturdiness. Sunburst’s Ovation shutters are the only five star wood shutter in the world and utilize two styles of joints: mortise-and-tenon and dowel, which allows for extra stability. We’re proud to be the only place which makes shutters put together to survive the most extreme conditions.

Sunburst Shutters ensures that we take the utmost care in the measuring, manufacturing, and installation processes to make sure you get picture-perfect custom shutters that fit your windows perfectly.

Color Which Lasts

Everybody wants shutters that will be just as beautiful several years after you buy them. Other composite shutters are prone to fading or yellowing over time. Our Polywood shutters are coated with a unique paint that contains UV-inhibitors so your shutters won’t fade or yellow. In addition, a simple once over with a cloth is all that’s necessary to keep your plantation shutters spotless.

Warranty

Warranties are another major detail when choosing shutters and window treatments. When selecting a high-quality shutter, you want a warranty to protect your investment. Our Polywood shutters include a lifetime warranty that protect you from any imperfections that might occur in materials, workmanship, paint finish, or installation. Our Ovation shutters include a warranty against any defects.
